The Monk Family Reunion took place on Saturday 19th August 2006. Common ancestor being Eleanor Annie Datlen daughter of Charles / Robert / Robert / Johannes. Eleanor married Alfred James Monk in 1909 and they had 5 children the youngest of which is Megan Joan Monk who was very much the focus of attention as she celebrated her 80th birthday.
The reunion was held at the Conningbrook Hotel, Kennington, Kent. The evening began with a reception drink followed by a photography session and a delicious carvery meal. There was much banter and reminiscing. Stories were exchanged, notes compared, friendships formed and memories made. The highlight of the after dinner entertainment came from Megan on the ivories.
On Sunday the remaining guests travelled to the Snodland cemetery to locate the final resting place of Eleanor’s mother, Jessie Ann Datlen (Vane / Blythe / Denton) and also the graves of Alfred and Clara Monk. The group then followed the path up to the North Downs where they picnicked and finally paid a visit to the Snodland museum before going their separate ways.

The wedding of IAN DATLEN and KATE SHEW took place on Saturday 17th June 2006 at Newstead Priory, Cadney, North Lincolshire. They spent their honeymoon in Scotland.
